Why these tests run locally
Hardware diagnostics don't need a server. Your browser can already read key events, meter a microphone, and paint a screen — so that's all these tools do, with the code running on your machine and nothing sent anywhere. It's faster, it works on a flaky connection, and it means testing a microphone doesn't require trusting a stranger with your audio.
